Are you funny? At a party, family gathering, or in your work break room, is there always a group around you, listening and laughing at your jokes and stories? Well, if this scenario resembles you, then you need to try your hand at stand-up comedy at The Stage Door’s 4th annual “A Funny Thing.”
There is no cost to the comic, but instead, participants will gain valuable experience in the art of stand-up comedy in front of a friendly audience of family and friends. The only requirement is that the material must be rated no more than PG. This event is billed as “family-friendly” and The Stage Door wishes to keep the humor out of the gutter.
So, are you good at physical comedy like Dick Van Dyke or are you a person of a thousand faces like Jim Carrey? Are you always trying to imitate the voices and mannerisms of famous people or are you the person noticing the comedy in everyday things like Arsenio Hall’s “Things that make you go ‘hmmmmmm?’” Perhaps you lean toward the overweight, middle class mom that brought Roseanne Barr to fame or the redneck humor of Larry the Cable Guy. Whatever your genre, you will be right at home in The Stage Door’s “A Funny Thing.”
Those interested in trying out their brand of humor on an audience should contact Kelly Hilburn, event coordinator, at Kellyisok@gmail.com.
“A Funny Thing” is set for November 9 at 7:30 p.m.
