One night only this Saturday, November 9 at 601 Oak Avenue in Yukon
The Stage Door is proud to bring “A Funny Thing” back for its fourth consecutive year. Brainchild of local funnyman, Kelly Hilburn, “A Funny Thing” features local comedians who hone their stand-up comedy skills in front of a friendly audience in a non-alcoholic, non-smoking atmosphere, using no more than PG-rated material. It makes for an enjoyable evening for the entire family.
There is no cost to the comics, but their rewards are many. Besides the opportunity to perform and enhance their stand-up resumes, one of the comedians will get the chance to co-host The Stage Door’s annual Golden Door Awards and Gala in June, and then there’s always bragging rights!!
Besides those scheduled to perform for the evening, emcee Hilburn will also give one or two people from the audience a chance to come up and enjoy the stand-up experience. Those volunteering from the audience would only need to have 5-7 minutes of prepared material. It’s a great opportunity to see if comedy is your calling!!
There is still room for a few more comics in the program and if you would like to try your hand at stand-up comedy or you are experienced but would just like another opportunity to perform, contact Hilburn at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The event will be general seating and admission is $7.00 at the door . . . no pre-sales for this show. The lobby opens at 6:30 p.m. and the theatre doors open at 7:00 p.m. Concessions will be available, and as always, every item sells for $1.00.
So, as we head into the season of Thanksgiving and take pause to truly be thankful for life and love and laughter and living, take the time to celebrate these things at “A Funny Thing.” Discover laughter . . . discover The Stage Door.
